IMA (International Montessori Academy) is one of Seattle’s top academies for young students. The school is known for utilizing not only Montessori methods but also drawing upon the most successful principles of other top-notch educational modalities.
The most recent location - “International School House” is my favorite next to Capitol Hill. The Cap Hill location has a unique urban feel with the loft like interior showcasing old growth beams and open layout. All things I love in a space.
The ISH location at the top of Madison is equally enthralling in a whole new way. The historic home was completely redone while saving every original detail they could including the beautiful staircase and molding. It has all the feels of space any child would like to play, learn and grow up in.
I appreciate all of the attention to detail each location was given in creating an enjoyable and functional environment for the children of IMA. As a mother, I appreciate an adequate outdoor play space. I feel time outdoors is so important for our kiddos and I am surprised at the number of schools I have visited that do not have an outdoor play space! IMA did not disappoint here either.
During this project I completely fell in love with the idea of photographing more schools. Thankfully Seattle is teaming with interesting academic institutions!
